About the film room
Who we are, how the numbers are built, and what we leave out.
Who and what
Husker Film Room is an unofficial, fan-run scouting site for Nebraska football. Each game week, Coach Mac's scouting desk charts the opponent snap by snap and publishes the tendencies a coordinator would want on a laminated sideline card: what they call by field zone and by down & distance, how their backfield sets tip the play, what looks beat them, and suggested calls.
Methodology
- Play-by-play first. Down, distance, field position and result for every scrimmage snap come from official play-by-play and are reconciled to the box score, game by game.
- Film tags second. Backfield set, play family, defensive front, box count and shell are charted from broadcast-angle cut-ups and anchored to the play-by-play row. Every film tag carries a confidence level; we say when an angle hides something (for example, coverage calls or personnel) and leave it blank rather than guess.
- Definitions. Success = 40% of the yards needed on 1st down, 60% on 2nd, 100% on 3rd and 4th. Explosive = a run of 10+ or a pass of 20+. Field zones are measured from the offense's side of the field.
- Replays. The tap-to-replay drawings show the charted formation, ball carrier or target, direction and gain; routes and alignments are illustrative, not tracked.
- Ranks. National ranks are from cfbstats.com, out of 138 teams, so they can differ by a few spots from NCAA ranks in game notes.
- Audit. Each week's numbers are checked claim by claim against at least one independent source before publishing, and corrections are noted on the page.
Suggested calls
Anything labeled suggested call is a fan analyst's suggestion built from the charted numbers next to it. It is not a Nebraska play call and not inside information.
